Descrizione: UTAGAWA FUSATANE (active 1850 – 1880) RAINY NIGHT IN KARASAKI Original woodblock print. Japan, 1854 SIZE OBAN yoko-e, CA. 25,2 x 37,5 CM Title: Karasaki no Ya-U. Finely arranged composition of Karasaki no Matsu (over one hundred years old pine tree) standing on the shore of the dark blue lake Biwa under a rainy sky. The succinct brushstrokes make us think of the work of Hiroshige, while the artist was a student of Sadafusa. Signature: FUSATANE ga, editor: Moriya Jihei, seal of the censor: Aratame, seal dated 1854, 9th month. Good color and impression, somewhat stained, minor damage to margins. From an old Viennese collection

Japan, Meiji period (1868 – 1912) HEIGHT 28 CM A group of two elaborate porcelain figures, with golden adornments and clothed in rich garments, one standing and with a fishing net – possibly the fisherman Urashima Taro, happily smiling and dressed in characteristic straw apron offering one inro to the belt, the other figure, seated on a bundle of sticks or rice and wearing the typical headdress of Daikoku, carrying a golden axe on the back. Very effective and decorative depiction, very good condition. From an old German collection

Descrizione: BRONZE VASE Bronze. Japan, Meiji period (1868 – 1912) HEIGHT 40,5 CM The very decorative and very richly designed vase in a balanced baluster form. The entire main panel shows on a dense pattern (with possibly abstracted mythical fabulous creature) and below tasseled hangings are semi plastic branches with sakura flowers with kaki fruits. On each there is a long-tailed bird sitting. On the neck there is a dragon and a phoenix each surrounded from clouds. Decorative nyoi forms varie. The handles are extremely long-tailed dragons with pearls in their mouths and three crawls. On the bottom the mark Dai Nihon Kamidagawa ju-be / Shokaken chu (living in Great Japan near Kamidagawa, poured in house Shoka). Excellent condition, very nice dark brown patina. From a German collection

Descrizione: ELEGANT VASE WITH BAMBOO DECORATION Ceramic in Satsuma style, enamel, gold. Japan, Meiji to Showa, 19th - 1 Third of the 20th Century HEIHGT 37,5 CM An elegantly shaped vase on a rectangular base merging in a body with curved sides which continue in a widening tall neck section. The decoration is intricately and entirely done in bamboo with relief and gold sections, bamboo stems and foliage stretching from foot to the even and gilded mouth rim and offering green and blue shades. Characteristic shaded glazing for with rich craquelé. Mark on bottom, below Tokyo and signed. Very good condition. From a German collection

Descrizione: SAITO YASUO (BORN 1931):RABBIT Netsuke. Ivory and Horn. Japan, approx. 1975 HEIGHT 3,2 CM The work of a modern master born 1931 in Tokyo. The rabbit - usagi – is the East Asian equivalent to the “Man in the Moon”. According to legend, the rabbit turns snow white after 1000 years of age. This piece is almost white, both eyes are two-colored inlaid horn and very lively in expression. The fine carving shows the quality of Kaigyokusai Masatsugu, the Osakaer master of the last century. Himotoshi on bottom and signature BAI-SHODO YASU-FUSA on legs. The name Baishodo comes from the studio, the artist´s real name is Saito Yasufusa. From a private German collection
